| History: |
In direct response to unsatisfactory experiences with available SCM tools, developer Christopher Seiwald founded Perforce Software in 1995. As a developer, he knew the key to successful SCM was to create a system his fellow developers would want to use and still provide enough control to satisfy managers. Seiwald's basic premise has always been that developers won't use an SCM system that forces them to wait while it completes operations or interferes in their development activities. This creed drives Perforce Software and Perforce, The Fast SCM System.
For more than 20 years, Seiwald has developed software. He is a respected expert on SCM and is a regular contributor to SCM conferences and journals. Prior to founding Perforce Software, Seiwald was director of Network Development at Ingres Corporation responsible for developing database and development tools. In addition to his role as Net products architect, he spearheaded the company's SCM project, where he pioneered the 'developer-centric' SCM model, providing software engineers maximum control with minimum interference. |
