Softrax Ends 2005 With Record Sales and Strong Momentum Banner Year Includes Additions to Product Portfolio, Services-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Framework for Development, and Expansion in Key Market Segments
CANTON, MA - March 15, 2006 -- Softrax Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise billing and revenue management solutions, today announced that the calendar year 2005 saw record financial results, significant additions to the product family, and further expansion in key market segments. "2005 was a very strong year for us," said Softrax President and CEO Robert O'Connor. "The sales growth and the expansion in our base are the results of aggressive, sustained investment in our organization, products, and technology. Our success also reflects the rising demand for solutions to automate complex billing models, revenue recognition processes and Sarbanes- Oxley compliance. Our years of experience in these areas help our existing customers get ahead of these curves, and increasingly attract new companies whose needs are not met by generic solutions."
Some of the new customers signed in the last fiscal quarter, which includes January 2006, are: NSI Software, 3am Labs, 8e6 Technologies, FaceTime Communications, Global IP Sound, WebDialogs, CS Stars, Unica, TALX, Democracy Data and Communications (DDC), Winternals Software, and SchoolNet.
Key Technology Developments
In 2005 the company introduced its Business Intelligence (BI) application to extend the functionality of its core solutions -- adding sophisticated revenue analysis, forecasting and reporting capabilities. Softrax also released a major upgrade to its Contrax solution, which automates the complex billing and revenue recognition accounting for companies with periodically recurring contracts, subscriptions and metered-usage transactions.
The company also established its Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) as the key framework for product development. Softrax SOA is an industry- standard, enterprise software architecture based on web services. This web- services approach enables easy integration of Softrax revenue management functionality with other enterprise applications and processes.
More Software Industry IPOs by Softrax Customers
The strength of Softrax's unmatched solutions for software and high tech companies was further underlined in 2005 by the fact that fully 50% of the Software and Computer Program Services companies that issued Initial Public Offerings are Softrax customers. A robust revenue management platform that supports growth and investor confidence is an important asset for many growing companies.
Softrax continued to expand its position as the preeminent supplier of enterprise billing and revenue management solutions to software and other high tech companies with many new customers in 2005. Current industry trends such as the adoption of Software as a Service (SaaS) business models play into the company's strengths. SaaS requires significant changes in mission-critical financial processes, especially billing and revenue management. In addition, executives need different financial metrics and reporting capabilities like those provided by Softrax to effectively manage the ongoing success of SaaS business models.
Expanding Industry Leadership -- Base Includes Business Process
Outsourcers, E-Commerce, Information Services and More
In 2005 more companies, from more industries than ever, were challenged by the need to deliver innovative business models and automate very complex billing and revenue recognition processes. The challenges were all the more difficult due to the need to manage compliance with increasingly complex requirements for revenue reporting. Generic solutions and ERP/CRM systems lack the depth of functionality to meet these needs, leaving companies struggling with inefficient and expensive off-line processes. This vacuum has drawn many companies to Softrax. As a result, the company's customer base has rapidly expanded to include information services, research, publishing, content aggregators, hardware appliances, e-commerce, business process outsourcing and other business service firms.
Compliance
Revenue accounting practices are now a major focus of investors and auditors. Softrax was the first company to automate compliance with the complex FASB guidelines on multi-element contracts (SOP 97-2 and 98-9). After years of successfully optimizing and automating these processes, the company has developed product functionality, best practices and services expertise that are unavailable elsewhere in the market. In addition, Softrax solutions offer many controls for supporting certifications related to Sarbanes-Oxley revenue attestations.
