Epicor Acknowledged as a Leader in Applications Software Licensing by Independent Analyst Research Firm Epicor Shows Strength as Only Vendor to Score in Top Three for Both Evaluated Pricing Model Scenarios
IRVINE, CA - December 12, 2005 -- Epicor Software Corporation (Nasdaq: EPIC - News), a leading provider of integrated enterprise software solutions for the midmarket, today announced its strong results in a recent evaluation by Forrester Research of Enterprise Applications Software Licensing. Epicor is the only vendor to rank in the top three for both the complex license metrics, offering sophisticated licensing metrics with flexible licensing policies, and the simplified metrics, providing simple licensing metrics with flexible licensing policies.
Designed to assess the state of enterprise applications software licensing market, the report, "The Forrester Wave: Enterprise Applications Software Licensing, Q4 2005" (November 10, 2005), evaluates the top ERP vendors across 65 criteria that examine how the vendors address simplicity versus complexity and consistency versus flexibility. Epicor has the unique distinction of being the only vendor to rank in the top three for both the complexity and the simplicity evaluations.
Authoring analyst R. "Ray" Wang, senior analyst with Forrester, writes, "Vendors range widely on license and maintenance prices. Looking at the life-cycle ownership costs, Epicor is low on license and implementation and average on maintenance. One key differentiator (for Epicor) is the .NET framework, which lowers overall development and professional services costs."(1)
The report continues, "Overall, Epicor should be considered by midmarket enterprises and divisions/subsidiaries of the Global 1000 for its top licensing metrics and software life-cycle policies." The report also sites Epicor's low-cost direct sales delivery model and 24x7 global coverage due to the acquisition of Scala Business Solutions in 2003, offshore development in Mexico and Eastern Europe, and strong Microsoft technology partnership.
"Epicor is committed to providing innovative solutions paired with first class services and support within a flexible licensing framework, and the results of Forrester's Enterprise Applications Software Licensing Wave are a testament to that," said James Norwood, vice president of product marketing for Epicor. "Comparing Epicor alongside other enterprise vendors like Oracle and SAP, the report shows Epicor's ability to successfully provide complex pricing scenarios required by large enterprises and divisions of the Global 1000 as well as simple models that meet the needs of midmarket companies."
