Xcelsius Helps University of Nebraska Students Learn Data Visualization Skills
Infommersion Provides Software, Sponsors Contest Offering $1,000 Award to Student with Best Visualization Model

SAN DIEGO, CA & OMAHA, NE, Oct. 11, 2005 -- Infommersion, the industry leader in data visualization software, has announced that its award-winning Xcelsius will be used to teach students attending an exclusive, eight-seminar series titled "Innovative Visualization of Business Data" at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) this fall.

Xcelsius will enable UNO students to transform static Excel spreadsheets into engaging presentations, dynamic charts and graphs, and interactive business dashboards with point-and-click ease.

Infommersion will provide a free copy of Xcelsius to each student participating in the course, which is sponsored by The Peter Klewit Institute, the College of Information Science & Technology at UNO, Gallup Organization and The AIM Institute. At the end of the course, Infommersion will award $1,000 to the student who develops the best visualization model using Xcelsius software.

The course will be taught by a small group of well-known figures invited by Dr. Gerald Wagner, world expert in the field of data visualization and a senior scientist at Gallup, to speak in the series. Each session will be taught by a different instructor, on subjects such as, "Interactive Data Visualization," "Toward the Intelligent Flow of Information," "Visual Storytelling" and "Software to Facilitate Visual Analysis."

"Data visualization is about making information useful and relevant in compelling ways, and it is a valuable skill for our students--the world's future business leaders--to learn," said Dr. Gerald Wagner, faculty director and distinguished research fellow at UNO. "Xcelsius is the perfect tool to help them communicate vital information more effectively, persuade an audience and gain greater insight into complex data."

"Xcelsius is the easiest to use, yet most powerful data visualization software available. We look forward to seeing some great ideas and designs from the student community," said Kirk Cunningham, vice president of marketing at Infommersion. "Xcelsius is a tool that students can learn how to use while they are at school, and take a tremendous skill with them when they embark on their careers."

The course runs through November 2005. For further information about Xcelsius and Infommersion, please visit www.xcelsius.com.
