WAP takes iQmetrix wireless November 1, 1999 - WAP (wireless application protocol) has been chosen by iQmetrix as its platform for wireless access to the iQmetrix intelligent eBusiness solution. WAP permits quick, secure and efficient wireless communication between an assortment of handheld devices including palm pilots, windows CE devices, and wireless phones.
iQmetrix recognizes that WAP represents significant potential for corporations across multiple industries and therefore iQmetrix is WAP enabling many of its applications, allowing access to these modules from handheld, wireless devices.
Like PHP, WAP is an open technology platform and fully integrates with PHP. In fact, PHP is flexible enough to allow one HTML document containing a PHP script to be used for both HTML and WAP compatible browsers. The PHP source code is invisible to the client. WAP is based on XML (extensible mark-up language).
WAP is the standard wireless protocol in the wireless communications industry with its supporters including: Nokia, Ericcson, IBM, and Motorola. According to AT&T, over 90% of the world's mobile hardware manufacturers are now committed to WAP.
