August 1, 2004 - iQmetrix, developer of RetailiQ, the complete retail management system for the cellular industry, today announced integration with POS.COM II, Cingular's online activation system. The upcoming release of RetailiQ, Version 2.2 will include a new feature, Automated Carrier Confirmation of Service Activation, which integrates with POS.COM II to improve the customer activation process and further streamline the point-of-sale process for Cingular dealers. Benefits include increased accuracy, reduced human error and increased customer satisfaction.
iQmetrix and Cingular, America's largest wireless carrier, developed this process to eliminate the need for "screen-scraping" or double keying when completing service activations and to provide Cingular dealers with reliable and structured data.
"Without cooperation from their carrier, dealers using Retail Management Systems are forced to rely on "screen-scraping" or double keying to gather service activation information. Both double entry and screen-scraping can result in problems; the former is prone to human error and the latter can be problematic if the format or the content changes." said iQmetrix President and CEO Chris Krywulak. "Cingular recognized that these methods would not provide reliable data for their dealers. We approached Cingular with the idea of designing a more effective process. Since this time, iQmetrix has worked closely with Cingular to redesign their customer activation process."
Automated Carrier Confirmation of Service Activation uses XML (extensible markup language) to communicate between Cingular's POS.COM II system and the RetailiQ system. Simple integration delivers consistent and reliable data.
The process is simple:
- The store creates a customer activation in POS.COM II and sends the required information to Cingular for verification;
- Upon approval, the necessary service information is assigned;
- Cingular creates an XML file of the customer's activation information which is made available to the dealer by a 'link' on a web page;
- The information can be readily downloaded to the dealer's local PC for use in creating a customer profile in RetailiQ.
"I would like to thank Cingular for leading by example," said President and CEO Chris Krywulak. "It is evident that cooperation of this nature can result in a win-win situation for all parties involved. Cingular has improved their service activation process at an operational level; dealers using RetailiQ have received a highly effective process which will virtually eliminate error; and iQmetrix has assisted in developing a process that will provide yet another competitive advantage for our Cingular customers."
Automated Carrier Confirmation of Service Activation will be available for RetailiQ Cingular customers in the upcoming release of RetailiQ, Version 2.2 scheduled for August 1st, 2004.
