Adisoft’s Open Source T&E Reporting Software Update
(San Leandro, California – April 14, 2005) Adisoft, Inc. announces the availability of the Expense Submittal System™ 2.1 (ESS). ESS is an open source Web-based expense reporting system for corporate travelers and accounting departments.
Release 2.1 provides support for Mozilla Firefox® and a native Oracle® JDBC interface.
"Adisoft is committed to enhancing the ESS package," said Karen Chen, Founder, Adisoft, Inc. She continued, "We are very energized by our participation in the Open Source Business Conference in San Francisco last week. As an application, ESS is at the forefront of the open source world. ESS users receive benefits from day one while not having to pay license fees or transaction charges."
ESS is a complete solution for expense report processing. Going beyond report entry, ESS provides approval routing, automatic policy checking, and credit card statement importation. Managers have online access to all reports they either have approved or have been submitted by subordinates.
A fully functional backend provides A/P staff with automatic compliance checks, G/L feeds, a reimbursement interface, and receipt management. ACH payment file creation is a standard feature. In most closed expense report packages, this is considered extra and charged for in addition to the basic package or service.
Chen also said, “Our clients want to keep their process in-house where it is under their control. There are a lot of reasons, such as data confidentiality, for doing this. Also, the ability to custom tailor HTML screens with our semantic mapping strategy or support different database schemas is attractive. ESS can be up and running in a matter of days and the source code is completely available for any tweeks.”
ESS is a Web-based application programmed in Java, Java Server Pages (JSP), HTML and JavaScript. It runs under Windows®, Linux® or Solaris®. ESS supports Oracle®, MySQL® and ODBC databases. Users access the application with Microsoft IE or Mozilla Firefox browsers.
ESS is licensed under the GNU Public License. Adisoft charges a $75.00 download fee covering a 30-day support period. Adisoft also offers various support and installation services. ESS has been in beta for two years and was generally released on February 8, 2005. Current users include Kohler Co. and Bank of America Business Capital.
