Epicor Launches New Point-of-Sale Solution for Midmarket Retail Enterprises Epicor for Retail Empowers Midsized Organizations with Tightly Integrated POS Solution
IRVINE, Calif., June 28 -- Epicor Software Corporation (Nasdaq: EPIC - News), a leading provider of integrated enterprise software solutions for the midmarket, today announced the availability of Epicor for Retail, a fully-integrated, end-to-end business solution designed specifically for the needs of midmarket retail enterprises. According to Gartner, Inc. research vice president, Jeffrey Roster, "One of the leading business trends impacting the retail sector is employee productivity. Incremental gains in efficiency leveraged across an organization can have a significant impact on the bottom line."
Developed in conjunction with Precise Business Solutions, an Epicor partner since 1995, Epicor for Retail is a complete business solution for retail organizations that provides point-of-sale (POS), warehousing, distribution, financials, customer relationship management (CRM) and business analysis all in one package.
As part of the Epicor for Retail offering, Epicor also announced its new Epicor Enterprise POS module. Epicor POS is a PC-based solution designed for the retail outlet sector that extends sales order and accounts receivable functionality into a retail sales environment. Utilizing leading Microsoft technologies, Epicor POS provides a retail solution for multi-site, high- transaction volume corporations as well as smaller organizations. Epicor POS provides fast data entry and comprehensive integration to Epicor Enterprise, a comprehensive end-to-end suite of proven industry-specific solutions for the global midmarket enterprise, all with complete reliability and data integrity.
"In searching for a POS solution, we needed a system that could be adapted to our unique business requirements without undertaking a major customization and integration project," said Colin Prasad, finance director for FedEx Kinko's Office and Print Services Australia. "Epicor POS was the right choice for us with its 'out-of-the-box' seamless integration to Epicor Distribution and Financials. This enabled the project to then focus on what's important -- tailored set-up, user training and fast roll-out."
Prasad added, "After being led through the initial test site implementations, we felt confident enough to roll out a further nine stores ourselves with a small three man team, in just three weeks. There's no doubt that Epicor POS's ease of deployment and intuitive design has led to a high user acceptance and a successful project."
End-to-end Functionality for Retail Organizations
Epicor POS is comprehensively connected into Epicor Enterprise with point- of-sale transactions transferred directly into financials and supply chain applications. The integration between Epicor POS and the back office eliminates double handling of data ensuring that all information is accurate and reliable. The flow of data is bi-directional between Epicor Enterprise and Epicor POS. Point-of-sale transactions such as sales, credits and receipts are sent to the back office by creating sales orders, credit returns and cash receipts. Updated point-of-sale related data, such as inventory, customer and payment method details, is automatically sent to Epicor POS so there is no need to maintain master files twice.
"Epicor for Retail offers mid-size retail outlets a streamlined, comprehensive point-of-sale solution at a total cost of ownership they can afford," said James Norwood, vice president of product marketing for Epicor. "With seamless integration from the front of the store right through to the back office, Epicor for Retail is a simple to use, fast to deploy and completely reliable point-of-sale solution."
