FileHawk can index files on CD and DVDs (or any removable device that can be recognized by Windows) and will reference the files back to you even if the device is not in your computer! It's able to index and search network files too. A catalog of all of the indexed CDs and DVDs (or any removable device ) can be created to assist you to manage your files.

Why do you need a desktop search and file organizer?

Typically, people use Windows Explorer to copy, delete, find files and folders in their computer. The folders group documents together. Often, the "My Documents" folder is loaded with various and unrelated documents and is difficult to find exactly what you are looking for. Organizing documents using folders in Windows Explorer must be done manually, which can be a laborious and confusing task. FileHawk has a different and more practical approach to filing documents. It will group related documents for you, according to your criteria.

Use FileHawk's flexible Active Folders to organize your documents according to your needs rather than by Windows' rigid directory structure. For example, you may wish to file your documents under categories Last month's invoices, Summer 2004 photos, or Apple pie recipes. You will only need to create the folders and establish the criteria that FileHawk will use to automatically organize your documents. The same documents may appear in several Active Folders. For example, the document that you just wrote about your trip to Budapest will appear automatically in your Today folder and in your Travel folder.

As time progresses, computers have a capacity to store an increasing amount of files, often tens of thousands. Mis-named files, mis-filed documents and rarely used documents can easily be located by FileHawk. Often, people are unaware of the contents of their backup media simply because of the sheer volume and lack of their day to day use. Our technology enables us to compress the data so the index takes up less space on your hard drive as opposed to other programs!
