TDPS: Comprehensive Replication and Recovery

The Topio Data Protection Suite™ (TDPS) is enterprise class software for data replication and recovery across the range of locations, platforms and storage that support your enterprise. Worldwide, companies of all sizes depend on TDPS for:

  • Disaster Recovery
  • Data Migration
  • Backup Consolidation

TDPS is the ideal solution for comprehensive, cost effective business continuance: Allowing you to dramatically improve business recovery, while you simplify operations and avoid the high cost and vendor lock-in of traditional solutions.

With TDPS, you can continuously copy and protect data over any distance, across heterogeneous infrastructures, without the operational disruption incurred with traditional alternatives. At your target site TDPS maintains a 100% consistent, replica of your source data. This recovery-ready image enables application failover in minutes, not hours or days—while providing data currency up to-the millisecond. As you replicate, TDPS allows you to freeze point-in-time copies for any session, whenever you like—to support centralized backup or testing. What’s more, TDPS works seamlessly with in-place or evolving network and IT infrastructure, protecting your current IT investment and giving you the flexibility to match the most cost-effective technology with current, and future needs.

TDPS Architecture: Non-disruptive, Bulletproof Recovery

The TDPS patent pending Recovery-Centric architecture consists of a Replication Client, Replication Server, and a Management Server with a browser-based console.

Replication Client (TRC): Performs continuous replication at your source site. This delivers up-to the-second data currency and eliminates the need to quiesce applications, or perform complex copy operations. The TRC utilizes a lightweight host-based or SAN-resident driver to create a copy of each production write. Each copy is time stamped with meta data, cached and then sent asynchronously over your IP network to the target site using data compression and/or reduction to optimize bandwidth utilization.

Replication Server (TRS): At your target the TRS performs replication processing and consistency management to reassemble incoming writes, creating a recovery-ready image that is maintained to the most current, consistent point in time. Offloading processing to your target site allows replication with virtually no overhead to production systems. It also ensures that your system-wide ability to replicate and recover is sustained, should you encounter an outage at any source. TDPS employs multi-level fault management to maintain session and data integrity across multiple server, storage or network failures. All cached data is backed by non-volatile storage at both source and target sites, and TDPS continuously monitors all system components so that replication can be automatically resumed once a failure is resolved. Finally, TDPS is the only solution in the industry that can timestamp and manage individual writes in a global system context. This unique capability guarantees 100% data consistency, across dependent volumes, federated data bases or applications that span multiple servers.

Management Server (TMS): Provides centralized visibility and control of replication sessions across your enterprise. A configurable, intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) reduces training costs and makes it easy for your team to start, monitor, and manage replication sessions, all within a robust access control framework. Administrators can quickly define replication policies, delegate authority based on roles or resources, and manage environments at any level, from an individual volume to an entire geographic location.
